Bird Walk at Belle Isle SP in Lancaster County

On Monday, January 15, the Northern Neck Audubon Society will conduct a bird walk at Belle Isle State Park.  There will be several loaner binoculars available.  Meet at the horse parking lot at 9:00am.

Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster County features seven miles of Rappahannock riverfront as well as diverse tidal and non-tidal wetlands, lowland marshes, tidal coves and upland forests.  Among possible sightings are diving ducks (buffleheads, hooded, red-breasted and common mergansers), loons, geese, Tundra Swans, double crested cormorants, bald eagles, great blue herons, belted king fishers, Eastern blue birds, and gulls.

From Kilmarnock, take Rt. 3 west to Lively and turn left on Rt. 201 (White Chapel Road).  Go to the end of 201 and turn right onto Rt. 354 (River Road).  Go 3.1 miles and turn left on Rt. 683 (Belle Isle Road). After the park entrance, continue through the four-way intersection.  The horse parking lot will be on your right.

From Warsaw, take Rt. 3 east and travel approximately 14.5 miles.  Turn right on Rt. 354 (River Road).  Go about 3 miles and turn right on Rt. 683 (Belle Isle Road).   After the park entrance, continue through the four-way intersection.  The horse parking lot will be on your right.
