The Northern Neck Audubon Society will conduct a bird walk on Monday, March 12th at 9:00 a.m. at the Wilna Unit of the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge. The Wilna unit offers various habitats for birds and wildlife including wooded trails, grasslands, and a pond. Among possible sightings are Eastern Blue Birds, Pileated and Red Headed Woodpeckers, Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers, Towhees, Hermit Thrushes, Bald Eagles, Northern Harriers, Savannah Sparrows, Wild Turkeys and wintering ducks (including Buffleheads, Mergansers, Pied-billed Grebes, Loons and Green-winged Teals).

Directions From Warsaw: Take Rt. 360 West (toward Tappahannock). Turn west onto Rt. 624 (Newland Road). Go 4.2 miles and turn left on Rt. 636 (Strangeway). Go .2 miles and turn right Sandy Lane. Go 1.1 miles and turn left into the refuge. Follow the signs to the Wilna Pond Lodge.
Directions from points west of Montross: Take Rt. 3 East. Turn right on Rt. 622 (Snyder Road). Turn left on Rt. 638 (Oak Row Road). Turn left on Rt. 624 (Newland Road). Turn right on Sandy Lane. Turn right at the main entrance to the refuge. Follow the signs to the Wilna Pond Lodge.
